Tourism Malaysia Successfully Holds ASEAN Golf Tournament – Road to Visit Malaysia 2026

NEW DELHI, Sept 15: Tourism Malaysia New Delhi (TMND) successfully organised the ASEAN Golf Tournament – Road to Visit Malaysia 2026, bringing together the golfing community in Delhi for a day of sportsmanship, networking, and cultural exchange.
The tournament attracted 110 players, comprising local Indian golfers, expatriates, and members of the diplomatic corps, showcasing the strong people-to-people ties and growing interest in Malaysia as a premier golfing and tourism destination.
The High Commissioner of Malaysia to India, Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa, inaugurated the ASEAN Golf Tournament with a super shot from Tee 1.
Besides High Commissioner, Dato’ Muzafar Shah Mustafa, a few others who participated in the tournament includes Ambassador of Myanmar Zaw Oo; Ambassador of Spain Juan Antonio March Pujol; Ambassador of South Korea Lee Seong-ho and Ambassador of Kenya Peter Munyiri. Their participation underscored the global unity fostered by Malaysia through the platform of sport.

The ASEAN Golf Tournament not only fostered camaraderie among participants but also served as an effective platform to highlight Malaysia’s world-class golf courses and diverse tourism offerings, in line with the nation’s preparations for Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Tourism Malaysia Director New Delhi Johanif Ali said Tourism Malaysia is focusing on specific segments, including golf tourism, to achieve its target of 1.6 million Indian tourist arrivals in 2026.
He said the event highlighted the importance of international cooperation, with support from the High Commission of Malaysia to India and collaboration with Indian tourism and event management companies.
Johanif Ali said the tournament would strengthen Malaysia's position in the global tourism market by focusing on unique travel experiences, such as golf and destination weddings.
He said the event would also boost connectivity and enhance the overall travel experience for visitors within the ASEAN region.
The event concluded with recognition of the winners: Vinay Agarwal- Closest to the Pin; Max Chen- Longest Drive; Mritunjay Kapur- Winner Nett, Indian Category (Above 9 H’cap); Ambani Shanker- Winner Gross, Indian Category (Above 9 H’cap); Bharat Bhushan- Winner Nett, Indian Category (Below 9 H’cap); J C Pegu- Winner Gross, Indian Category (Below 9 H’cap); Manisha- Winner Ladies ; Max Chen-Winner Gross, Expat Category; Peter Munyiri- Winner Nett, Invitee Diplomat Category; Mahaveer Singhvi- Winner Gross, Invitee Diplomat Category; Tung Nguyen- Winner Nett, ASEAN Diplomat Category; Sharizal Bin Md. Kamal- Winner Gross, ASEAN Diplomat Category;

A popular Malaysian dance group also entertained the audience with a wonderful dance show.
The event received overwhelming support in the form of sponsorships and partnerships from airlines, hoteliers, travel agents, and product owners, further strengthening the collaboration between Malaysia and India in promoting tourism.
