Record Participation In 26th Lt Governor’s Cup at Qutab Golf Course

By Deepak Arora

NEW DELHI: The 26th edition of the Lt Governor’s Cup Annual Golf Tournament concluded on a high note at the picturesque Qutab Golf Course, drawing over 1,000 participants and reaffirming Delhi’s growing stature as a hub for amateur golf.

The grand finale ceremony was presided over by Lt. Governor of Delhi Taranjit Singh Sandhu, who felicitated the winners and lauded the efforts behind organizing one of the capital’s largest golfing events.

Organized by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), the tournament unfolded over two action-packed weekends — March 13–15 and March 20–22 — witnessing enthusiastic participation from 1,056 golfers. Daily turnout remained strong, averaging between 170 and 200 players, highlighting the event’s popularity.

A notable highlight of this year’s edition was its inclusivity, with participants spanning diverse age groups, including a significant representation of 70 women golfers. The competition featured multiple categories, with 27 winners recognized across formats such as Gross Stableford and age-based Nett Stableford.

In addition to the main competition, skill-based awards like Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin added excitement and encouraged a spirit of excellence and camaraderie among players.

During his visit, the Lt. Governor toured the course facilities and interacted with participants, staff, and dignitaries. He commended the DDA’s role in developing world-class sporting infrastructure and promoting accessibility through initiatives such as the “Pay and Play” model, which has opened doors for young and aspiring golfers.

“The 26th LG Cup stands as a testament to DDA’s continued efforts in promoting sports and encouraging community engagement through world-class sporting platforms,” the organizing committee noted.

The tournament concluded with a prize distribution ceremony followed by a high tea, marking the successful culmination of yet another landmark edition in Delhi’s sporting calendar.
