Cancer Breakthrough In Britain: Patients Discharged Within Minutes Of Injection

LONDON, July 16: With scientific advancements, cancer treatment has made significant progress. Several modern therapies are now available, making it possible to treat even advanced stages of the disease. While a complete cure for cancer is still elusive, many cases can now be effectively managed. One such advanced treatment is immunotherapy, which is typically administered through a drip that takes one to two hours.

In a major breakthrough for cancer care, the UK National Health Service (NHS) has introduced a faster, more efficient way to deliver immunotherapy. Patients receiving the drug Nivolumab, used in the treatment of various cancers, can now get it via a quick injection that takes just 1 to 5 minutes. Until now, the same treatment required an hour-long IV drip, marking this shift as a significant step toward improving comfort and reducing time spent in hospitals.

According to a report, Nivolumab is a type of immunotherapy that enhances the body’s immune response against cancer cells. While the drug itself is not new, the method of delivery represents a significant improvement. This change is expected to have profound effects on cancer treatment, offering substantial benefits not only medically but also emotionally and practically for thousands of patients.

Traditionally, immunotherapy required hospital visits where patients would spend considerable time receiving their drip-based treatment. The introduction of the injection method means patients can now receive their medication quickly and be discharged on the same day.

This improvement can save patients dozens of hours annually, time that can be spent with family, at work, or relaxing at home. The psychological benefits of less time in hospital and more time in life are considerable.

The new injection system also provides substantial advantages for the NHS, potentially saving around 1,000 hours each month, which can be reallocated to care for more patients, better manage appointments, and reduce waiting times. For many, this injection represents not just a medical advancement but a means to maintain a better routine and lead a less burdensome life.

According to the report, the new injectable form of the immunotherapy drug Nivolumab has been approved for use in treating 15 different types of cancer, including skin, bladder, and oesophageal cancers. This quicker treatment method is expected to benefit nearly 1,200 patients in England every month, covering both new patients and those already on IV-based Nivolumab.

Roughly 40% of existing IV recipients could shift to this injection-based option, which takes just 1 to 5 minutes to administer—compared to the hour-long IV sessions. Though not suitable for every patient, for those who qualify, the shorter and simpler process is a significant relief, medically and emotionally.

Clinical trials have shown the injection to be equally effective as the IV form, with most patients reporting higher comfort and convenience. In fact, many preferred the injection over traditional drips, citing both time saved and less physical strain.

Notably, this advancement comes at no additional cost. The NHS has successfully negotiated pricing with the drug manufacturer to ensure that the faster treatment does not put extra pressure on healthcare budgets. This aligns with the NHS’s broader push toward more efficient, patient-friendly medical solutions that also make better use of limited resources.

Simple Treatment Could Prevent 75% of Stomach Cancer Cases, Doctors Reveal

LYON, July 8: A new study published in Nature Medicine highlights a rising global trend of stomach cancer among people under 50, with most future cases linked to the preventable infection Helicobacter pylori (H pylori).

Chronic H pylori infection is the strongest known risk factor for gastric cancer and can be treated using antibiotics and proton pump inhibitors.

Researchers from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), part of the WHO, projected that 15.6 million new cases of stomach cancer will occur globally among people born between 2008 and 2017 if current prevention strategies remain unchanged.

Crucially, according to the study that published in the journal Nature Medicine, 76% of these cases-about three-quarters-are attributable to H pylori and are potentially preventable. Asia is expected to bear the highest burden with 10.6 million cases, followed by the Americas and Africa. The researchers used large-scale simulations incorporating data from GLOBOCAN 2022 and UN mortality projections to estimate lifetime cancer risk based on age, death likelihood, and demographic trends.

A 100% effective screening and treatment program for H pylori could reduce stomach cancer cases by up to 75%. Even programs with 80-90% effectiveness would still prevent 60-68% of cases. These interventions are cost-effective and feasible even in low-income settings, comparable to HPV or hepatitis B vaccination campaigns.

The study urges investment in population-level screen-and-treat programs and emphasizes the importance of developing an H. pylori vaccine. Despite limitations in data from low-income countries and assumptions about static infection rates, the findings strongly advocate for proactive, global public health measures to prevent a significant portion of future gastric cancers.

How Kapil Sharma Lost 11 Kg In 63 Days Using The 21-21-21 Rule, Fitness Coach Shares Weight-Loss Tips

MUMBAI, July 4: Kapil Sharma has been garnering a lot of attention for his drastic weight loss, while being spotted on the current season of Netflix's The Great Indian Kapil Show.

Fitness coach Yogesh Bhateja, who is known for training celebrities such as Farah Khan and Sonu Sood, has opened up about working with Kapil Sharma and helping him shed those extra kilograms.

In an April 6 interview with Yogesh Bhateja on YouTube channel GunjanShouts, the fitness trainer opened up about Kapil Sharma's weight-loss transformation. He emphasised that when people don't think about fitness, they don't even try to learn about that lifestyle.

Bhateja added that a basic breakfast in an Indian household is bread-butter and tea, samosa, dhokla or paratha. And when one steps out of home, they eat anything without giving it much thought, said the trainer.

The change happens when one starts keeping a check on what they eat, their lifestyle choices, monitoring their water intake, breathing patterns, and much more, said the fitness coach. Everything starts changing when people start following these first few steps, which kickstart transformation and help make them fit.

The fitness coach added, "Maybe not physically, but mentally and emotionally. That's where you start moving more... This is what I did during Kapil's weight-loss journey."

When Kapil Sharma wanted to slow down, Yogesh made him do stretches instead, taking into consideration how the body reacts to movement, but without pushing Sharma's limits. He shed light on the fact that people want to do their maximum at the gym, and that is where they lose because they don't plan their progress and end up thinking workout is tough.

What Is The 21-21-21 Rule

Yogesh Bhateja shared a basic and effective routine that he used with Kapil Sharma who wanted to lose weight. The coach called it the 21-21-21 rule. Here is what it refers to:

First 21 Days: Movement

According to Yogesh Bhateja, the first 21 days focus on moving one's body; moving all the muscles, and doing only stretches.

Bhateja said, "Go back 15-20 years, when schools used to conduct PT [physical training classes]. Just do those exercises every day for 21 days, and you won't have to do any diet control or modification, eat jalebis as much as you want."

The Next 21 Days: Making Changes To Your Diet

Yogesh Bhateja advised, "Keep a check on your diet. I am not saying cut your carbs, calories or anything else. This is not the right approach. Only modify your diet."

The Final 21 Days: Control Smoking, Drinking And Caffeine

Yogesh Bhateja stressed on controlling one's emotional dependency on substances that don't have health benefits; such as liquor, cigarettes, or coffee.

He asserted that the 21-21-21 rule chnages your body.

"These 63 days will help you build an attitude without any pain, because you focused on only one thing during each set of 21 days. Now, you are driven and standing in the gym on the 22nd day. This practice will help you accept changes in your life because you are not cutting calories from your life; you are modifying it," said Bhateja.

"During this process, when you reach the 42nd day, you will see the change, and it will make you desperate to look better. That's where I want to control or cut emotional dependency on smoking, drinking, overeating, sugar intake, and anything that is not good for your body," said Bhateja.

"After 63 days, you will see a good change in your body, and you won't need anyone to push yourself. This is what works best for beginners," Bhateja added.
