Injured Monkey Rescued From Rashtrapati Bhawan, Treated, Released Into Natural Habitat

NEW DELHI, Jan 26: In a swift rescue operation, Wildlife SOS’ Rapid Response Unit successfully treated a 4-year-old rhesus macaque from the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises in New Delhi. The monkey, discovered with an injury to its left hind leg, was unable to walk and exhibited signs of distress.

Wildlife SOS’ Rapid Response Unit successfully intervened in rescuing a 4-year-old rhesus macaque found injured at the Rashtrapati Bhavan premises in New Delhi. The distress call to the organisation’s emergency helpline prompted the NGO to dispatch its Rapid Response Unit to the location for the monkey’s rescue.

Following the successful rescue, the macaque was transported to Wildlife SOS’ treatment facility, where a team of veterinarians assessed the situation. They identified an internal injury with bleeding from the anal region, causing the monkey distress and hind-leg impairment.

The experienced veterinary team administered antibiotics and coagulants to stop the bleeding, and fluid therapy to alleviate lethargy displayed by the monkey. After a few days of diligent medical treatment, the macaque responded positively to the treatment and showed signs of complete recovery. Subsequently, the monkey was released back into its natural habitat.

Kartick Satyanarayan, Co-founder and CEO, Wildlife SOS, said, “Our swift and effective rescue operation not only aimed to save the injured macaque but also prioritised providing essential medical care. The successful rescue and release of the monkey exemplifies Wildlife SOS’ unwavering commitment to the preservation of urban wildlife.”

Wasim Akram, Deputy Director-Special Projects, Wildlife SOS, said, “We appreciate the empathy shown by the staff at Rashtrapati Bhawan, who promptly contacted Wildlife SOS for the monkey’s treatment. The timely intervention in delivering necessary medical care has proven to be a lifeline for the monkey.”

German Princess Becomes First Aristocrat To Pose Naked On Playboy Cover

BERLIN, Feb 8: A princess in Germany has become the first aristocrat to take off her clothes for the Playboy magazine. Xenia Florence Gabriela Sophie Iris, the Princess of Saxony, is appearing topless in the local edition of the magazine, hoping that her decision will show "every woman is beautiful the way she is", according to German magazine Bild.

Her great-great-great-grandfather was the last King of Saxony, Friedrich August III, who died in 1932. The princess told the outlet that "he would have approved" the photoshoot.

"He was described to me as very humorous and loving. So he would definitely have approved of it. I feel a special connection with him," she told Bild in a poolside chat.

The 37-year-old claims a link to the 1,000-year-old House of Wettin. And she thinks her royal family won't approve of this.

"I would be surprised if they bought a copy. But of course I hope that they will at least tolerate it," Princess Xenia said about her relatives from the House of Wettin.

Talking about her royal origin, the princess said it seemed "like a curse" during her childhood. The aristocratic title finally became known to her school friends when she was in Class 7, and the experience was "terrible".

"Immediately the first girls asked me if I had a maid and the boys asked if I would marry them so they could become a prince," said Princess Xenia.

But now she sees her royal title as a "blessing" to make the most of. It has allowed her to take part in numerous reality shows such as 'Die Burg', 'Summer House of the Stars' and 'Battle of the Reality Stars'.

"I want to bring the real back to reality TV and at the same time show people who I really am," the princess told Bild.

She revealed her royal ancestry in her biography titled 'Xenia: The Life of a Princess in the 21st Century' in 2011. But the House of Wettin, the oldest documented families of the German nobility, rejected her claim.

"She is a nothing. She can't have a biography. This thing is a dreadful faux pas, a misfortune for the 1,000-year-old House of Wettin," Maria Emanuel, the head of now-defunct dynasty, had said about Princess Xenia's biography.

India shines at Grammy Awards as Shankar Mahadevan, Zakir Hussain win laurels

LOS ANGELES, Feb 5: Indian musicians Shankar Mahadevan and Zakir Hussain's fusion band ‘Shakti’ bagged the Grammy's award for ‘Best Global Music Album’ on Monday. The award was for their latest album ‘This Moment’.

In a picture shared by the Grammys on their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Mahadevan and another member of the band, Ganesh Rajagopalan, can be seen accepting the award on stage. “Congrats Best Global Music Album winner - 'This Moment' Shakti. #GRAMMYs,” the Grammy wrote in the post.

In an acceptance speech, Mahadevan said, “Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, friends, and India. India, we are proud of you…Last but not the least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife whom every note of my music is dedicated to.” The musician's speech evoked a loud cheer from the crowd.

The album ‘This Moment’, released on June 30 last year, features eight songs created by John McLaughlin (guitar synth), Zakir Hussain (tabla), Shankar Mahadevan (vocalist), V Selvaganesh (percussionist), and Ganesh Rajagopalan (violinist). They were nominated for the Grammys with other artists like Susana Baca, Bokante, Burna Boy, and Davido.

Meanwhile, Zakir Hussain also secured the ‘Best Global Music Performance’ Grammy for his contribution to ‘Pashto’ alongside Bela Fleck and Edgar Meyer, featuring Rakesh Chaurasia - a virtuoso flute player. While Hussain bagged three Grammys in one night, Chaurasia got two awards.

The 66th annual Grammy Awards 2024 are being held in Los Angeles.
